Water Plant Operator

The City of Blair will be accepting applications for the position of Water Plant Operator until filled. 

Duties will be in accordance with the job description for a Water Plant Operator as set forth in the City of Blair Job Description Manual.  The anticipated schedule for this position is 3:30 pm until midnight or midnight until 8:30 a.m., Monday through Friday. This Position will work with the Water Treatment Plant Supervisor for the first four months of employment training and then it is anticipated they will move to the shift identified for this position where the training will continue. A Grade 4 Water License issued by the State of Nebraska is needed for the position but the city will consider training the right individual. Required water license is required to be obtained within the first six (6) months of hire or as negotiated with the City.

Qualifications

Knowledge of the water treatment process and equipment including pumps, mixers, chlorinators, lime slakers, clarifiers, valves, filters, SCADA and laboratory equipment; Knowledge of state and federal drinking water regulations; Knowledge of chemicals for operation of Water Treatment Plant; Skill in written and oral communication; Skill in maintaining the equipment in the water treatment system; Ability to review and analyze data; Ability to make sound and timely decisions with the information available and ability to operate SCADA System.

Special Requirements

• Minimum one year of experience in a maintenance or mechanical role is preferred. • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the job duties and responsibilities.
